In Hilo
I did make it into Hilo, Hawaii on time with the rest of my group. We got in at about 6:00 PM local time and then boarded a school bus to our hotel. The hotel is right on the ocean and is nice. We had a little time to wash up before a brief welcome session and then dinner. Now it is a little before 9 PM here, and I am turning in. It has been a long day. Below is a picture of the view from my room balcony.

So how is Hilo? Is it raining?
Did you get a lei of flowers at Honolulu? If so, we want to see a picture of you with your flowers. Enjoy your three days there. Does anything look familiar from fourteen years ago? Glad you got your paper written. How is the food? Any pineapple yet?
News Flash!
Aslan found a grape on the floor and instead eating of it he kept rolling it across the floor!
hi
that's funny Caroline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is it hot there? have you seen any surfers
Seth M...
Nice to see that you made it Mr. Heiden, have you caught the World Cup fever yet? I didn't notice any sidewalk activities planned; is this subject to change during the course of the week?
Looks like today was going to be a fun day! I can't wait to hear about it.
Glad everything is going so well. Did you get your paper done? Today is the last day for my class. This discussion final is going to kill me. My class next year better hope I don't decide to make them do a discussion test! :-)
Have a great flight to Australia!
Miss Young
No lei, but we did have an official welcome with a send-off before we acended the volcano. The park we visited today was the same one we did 14 years ago.... I have been drinking lots of guava juice.
I am glad to hear that Aslan is out of the stairs and back to chasing grapes.
Nathan, I did see surfers today...I guess they are always out there. I didn't get to join them though...
Seth, I think we'll get lots of World Cup fever in Australia.....they are very wild about their team.
Miss Young, I am glad you are almost done with EDPSY 520....hopefully it was good. My final class goes through the fall, but I have a good start on it at this point...
I am sad for you that you did not get a lei in Hawaii as I think the leiing is probably a really lovely process over there, full of ceremony and meaning. WAtch out for crazy Hawaiian men with sticks who try to get you to take his leaf...
Linda: I had forgotten about your tough experience when we were in Hawaii years ago....that was funny to remember!
Actually, it was Andrea who was tramatized by the man with a stick. I think, perhaps, you made it worse by continuing saying that you saw him in the bushes outside of her hotel window. Children, Mark liked to tease his little sister. Isn't that just mean?
