I leave in 1000 days

I can't believe that I leave for Hawaii/Australia in only 1000 days. Students: I assume you know that I am using a different base for my calculation. Try to figure out which one I am using. How many days until I leave (in our normal base 10)?

If you have trouble, or just want to play around with a base calculator, try this website: http://www.mste.uiuc.edu/exner/ncsa/base/default.html

Try to figure out my countdown in a different base as well. Do you have a countdown of your own that you could do in a different base?

My mom says the number is 7 in base 10 but I don't Know what base it is. So, I am guessing base 2?

HR and Adam: Correct about base 2, and Adam, correct with the 8 days when converted to base 10.

As of this Friday morning, I leave in 101 days (base 2) or in 10 days (base 5).

Well, Sarah, since you are in Europe I think we'll let it go this time....

Adam: I will probably put a new post up tomorrow or Sunday and then one on Tuesday. After that I will post as often as I can during my trip. Because of the time differences, some of the posts will probably come in the middle of the night local time.
